
Jonathan Burke serves as the Assistant Secretary of the Treasury for Terrorist Financing where he is responsible for formulating and coordinating the counter terrorist financing and anti-money laundering efforts of the Department of the Treasury. Mr. Burke’s career in foreign policy, national security, and financial services spans more than 20 years. Most recently, he was a Managing Director at Citi in London, where he had global compliance oversight responsibility for sanctions across Investment Banking, Corporate Banking, and Commercial Banking businesses. Previously, Mr. Burke was Citi’s Chief Sanctions Officer for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, where he managed sanctions compliance across 55 countries within the region.
Prior to joining Citi, Mr. Burke led the sanctions services portfolio within EY’s Financial Services Advisory practice in the U.S. and held several positions with the U.S. Government, including sanctions policy roles within the U.S. Treasury, as well as roles within the U.S. State Department and U.S. Senate.
