Trip will Continue Coordination on the Implementation of Sanctions Against the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea and Iran
WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of the Treasury announced today that Under Secretary for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence David S. Cohen is traveling to Japan, the Republic of Korea, Singapore and Malaysia next week to discuss the implementation of economic sanctions targeting the destabilizing nuclear and ballistic missile proliferation activities of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea and Iran.
Under Secretary Cohen will meet with senior government officials and key representatives of the private sector in Tokyo, Japan; Seoul, Republic of Korea; Singapore, Singapore; and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. These discussions will focus on the Treasury Department’s ongoing consultation with partners around the world as governments, businesses, and financial institutions work to implement United Nations sanctions designed to disrupt efforts by the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea and Iran to advance their nuclear and ballistic missile programs.
