Under Secretary Brainard to visit China, December 10-11, 2012

Visit Focused on Ongoing Efforts to Ensure Level Playing Field and Highlight Importance of Rebalancing and Fostering Consumption-Led Growth
WASHINGTON The U.S. Department of the Treasury announced today that Under Secretary for International Affairs Lael Brainard will travel to Beijing, China on December 10-11, 2012 for meetings with China’s senior government officials. Following the U.S. election and the recent change in China’s leadership, the visit will provide an opportunity for continued bilateral engagement on economic issues of mutual importance.
While there, Under Secretary Brainard will discuss with her counterparts ways to expand opportunities for U.S. workers and businesses through a more level playing field. She will also discuss global economic developments and China’s efforts to rebalance its economy and strengthen consumption-led growth.
