Secretary John Snow Meets with Retail Sector in New York City

(AP Photo) On December 12 in New York City, Secretary John Snow met with retail sector chief executives to discuss President Bush's efforts to strengthen the economy and create jobs, as well as the role of the retail sector in the overall U.S. economy. He also toured the Toys R Us flagship store in Times Square. According to a leading trade association, the retail industry consists of more than 1.4 million U.S. retail establishments, more than 20 million employees – about one in five American workers – and 2002 sales of $3.6 trillion.
