WASHINGTON – U.S. Treasury Secretary Jacob J. Lew spoke by phone this morning with Eurogroup President and Finance Minister of the Netherlands Jeroen Dijsselbloem.
Secretary Lew noted Treasury continues to closely monitor Greece’s economic situation, and reiterated the importance of the Greek government continuing to implement necessary reforms. He added that Treasury will continue to urge Europe to meet its commitment to provide meaningful debt relief to Greece, and that the IMF should remain engaged with all parties.
Secretary Lew also restated his support for a comprehensive European response to prevent further hardship and loss of life in the migrant crisis.
