Treasury Assistant Secretary for Financial Institutions, Wayne A. Abernathy, will present a certificate of recognition to 1stEducational Savings Branch (1st ESB) for its financial education efforts to high school students. Assistant Secretary Abernathy will lead the presentation of the certificate with remarks about the importance of financial education for students, at WakefieldMemorialHigh School.
The 1stESB is a fully operational bank branch of The Savings Bank operated by students attending Wakefield Memorial High School. The Savings Bank established the 1stESB in April of 1981, the first of its kind in the country.
