“We commend the leadership of Chairman Oxley and Rep. Bachus in the effort to reform the federal deposit insurance system.   We share the goals of improving the operation of the system to ensure its long-term strength and soundness, promoting the important role of banks in our nation's economic growth.   We look forward to working with the Senate and then with a House-Senate conference where a final bill will be crafted that is consistent with the needs of depositors, the banking industry, and the Administration's priorities.”
