WASHINGTON – U.S. Secretary of the Treasury Janet L. Yellen met today with German Minister of Finance Christian Lindner. Secretary Yellen expressed appreciation for Germany’s close coordination on the implementation and enforcement of Russia sanctions, and they discussed the impact Russia’s unprovoked and brutal war against Ukraine has had on global energy and food prices and Germany’s economic recovery. The Secretary emphasized U.S. support for Germany’s efforts to the diversify and decarbonize its energy supply, and encouraged continued investment in German and EU energy security. They also discussed continued support for Ukraine.
