READOUT: Deputy Secretary of the Treasury Wally Adeyemo’s Visit to the United Arab Emirates

ABU DHABI — Deputy Secretary of the Treasury Wally Adeyemo traveled to the United Arab Emirates from June 19 - 22, 2022. While in the UAE, he met with government counterparts in Abu Dhabi including H.E. Mohamed Hadi Al Hussaini,  Minister of State for Financial Affairs; H.E. Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh, Minister of State; H.E. Khalid Balama Al Tamimi, Governor of the Central Bank; H.E. Khaldoon Al Mubarak, CEO of Mubadala Investment Company; and H.E. Dr. Mohamed Hamad Al Kuwaiti, Head of Cyber Security in the UAE Government. They discussed regional economic issues, cooperation on disrupting terrorist financing networks, cybersecurity, and implementation of the unprecedented multilateral sanctions on Russia for its war against Ukraine.

In Dubai, the Deputy Secretary met with His Highness Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman of Dubai World, and H.E. Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy and Chairman of the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority. He also held a roundtable with financial institutions from the UAE Banks Federation to discuss compliance and market issues.
