WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Treasury Under Secretary for International Affairs Jay Shambaugh met with Cabinet Secretary for the National Treasury and Economic Planning John Mbadi of Kenya and Central Bank of Kenya Governor Kamau Thugge on the margins of the Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and World Bank Group. Under Secretary Shambaugh welcomed Kenya’s strong engagement with the international financial institutions to help navigate the difficult economic and climate challenges that Kenya faces. He stressed that maintaining strong reform momentum, including on governance and anti-corruption, could help Kenya manage economic pressures. He expressed his appreciation for Kenya’s leadership to implement the Nairobi-Washington Vision and highlighted the United States’ strong support for the International Development Association (IDA).
