The United States and France are discussing the possible revision of the pension provisions of the income tax treaty currently in force between the two countries. Negotiations are expected to take place this summer.

The Treasury Department invites written comments from the public regarding the proposed revision of the pension provisions of the treaty. Comments should be sent no later than August 11, 2000, to Philip R. West, International Tax Counsel, Room 1000 Main Treasury, Washington, DC 20220.
