We have received encouraging reports from senior Treasury and Federal Reserve Board officials, now in Bangkok for consultations with Thai and IMF officials, about the steps that the Thai authorities are taking, and plan to take, to restore financialmarket stability and sustainable economic growth. Assuming conclusion of Thailand’s technical discussions with the IMFon a strong and comprehensive recovery program, the United Stateswill fully support Thailand’s extraordinary access to IMFresources.
