WASHINGTON – Yesterday, Secretary of the Treasury Scott K.H. Bessent met with Finance Minister Katsunobu Kato of Japan for their first in-person bilateral meeting.
During their discussions, the Secretary and Minister held productive discussions across a broad range of bilateral issues, including reciprocal trade. The Secretary welcomed the strong start the two countries have made to bilateral trade discussions.
Secretary Bessent and Minister Kato also affirmed their intention to continue their ongoing close consultations regarding issues related to exchange rates.
