WASHINGTON – Yesterday, Secretary of the Treasury Scott K.H. Bessent met with Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati of Indonesia. The Secretary complimented Indonesia on a positive start towards initiating trade discussions with the United States. Secretary Bessent also highlighted the United States’ desire to work closely with Indonesia on issues of mutual concern, including issues pertaining to reciprocal trade and multilateral institutions.
Referencing his remarks from earlier in the week, Secretary Bessent affirmed the Treasury’s intent to expand American leadership in the Bretton Woods institutions and restore fairness to the international economic system, and he highlighted the need for China to graduate from World Bank Group lending.
