WASHINGTON – Last week, Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent met with Valdis Dombrovskis, Commissioner for Economy & Productivity and Commissioner for Implementation & Simplification, European Commission.
Secretary Bessent reiterated that President Trump’s priority is securing a ceasefire and a lasting peace agreement between Ukraine and Russia. Toward this end, the Secretary underscored the need for Europe to be proactive on increased G7 economic pressure against Russia. The Secretary also emphasized the need for a unified response towards China’s global rare earth export controls, and the importance of diversified supply chains.
