LONDON – Yesterday, U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven T. Mnuchin met with U.K. Chancellor of the Exchequer Philip Hammond. Secretary Mnuchin thanked Chancellor Hammond for the generous hospitality afforded by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and Her Majesty’s government to the American delegation. The Secretary and Chancellor reaffirmed the important longstanding special relationship between the United States and United Kingdom, discussed the ongoing Brexit process, and spoke on the need for consensus-based approaches to international tax. Secretary Mnuchin and Chancellor Hammond also discussed the importance of maintaining continued economic pressure against sanctioned entities, and other ongoing security issues of mutual concern.
