Columbus—On November 14, 2017, Treasury Secretary Steven T. Muchin traveled to Columbus, Ohio to discuss tax reform with retail merchants and other business leaders. He participated in a moderated discussion with National Retail Federation President Matthew Shay at the Ohio Council of Retail Merchants' 95th Annual Public Affairs Luncheon. Later in the afternoon, Secretary Mnuchin participated in a business roundtable organized by the Columbus Partners. The Secretary's comments focused on the need to simplify the tax code, provide tax cuts and relief to middle-income families, and reduce rates on businesses to make them more competitive globally and encourage the repatriation of profits currently held overseas.
