Tribal Government Participating Jurisdiction

The State Small Business Credit Initiative (SSBCI) supports small businesses and entrepreneurship in communities across the United States, including Tribal Nations, by providing capital and technical assistance to promote small business stability, growth, and success.

The reauthorized SSBCI allows for federally recognized Tribal governments to participate in the program. Over $570 million was allocated to 89 applications representing 266 Tribes and Tribal consortia to implement SSBCI-supported credit and investment programs.

The funds allocated for Tribal governments within the SSBCI programs represent the largest and most expansive one-time federal investment to support small business financing in Tribal communities. This historic investment provides important resources to support Tribes in achieving self-determined economic development goals in their communities. SSBCI allocations may be used to support small businesses in Tribal communities and Tribal enterprises – businesses owned by Tribal governments.
