The Salmon P. Chase restored (c. 1860 period) office suite is the office of the 25th Secretary Salmon P. Chase who guided the finances of the country during the Civil War.
The Chase suite office was restored in 1992 and is notable for it's historic lighting, furnishings and decorative painting.
The pair of adjoining spaces which make up the office suite have been furnished with mid-19th century period antiques and artwork from the Treasury Collection.
One of the most compelling features of the Chase office suite is the original ceiling mural of the allegorical figures of "Treasury" and "Justice" painted on the vaulted ceiling.
Treasury Secretary Salmon P. Chase had a distinguished career in public service both at the Treasury Department and as a Supreme Court Justice.
