Washington – U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven T. Mnuchin delivered the closing speech before the U.S. – Qatar Strategic Dialogue at the U.S. Department of State.
Secretary Mnuchin's remarks underscored the importance of the economic relationship between the United States and Qatar in the areas of trade and investments. Additionally, the Secretary highlighted Qatar's critical role in combating terrorist financing and illicit activities.
Secretary Mnuchin discussed the improved domestic economic climate and increased business competiveness of the United States due to the passage of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. He encouraged greater foreign direct investment while reaffirming the Trump Administration commitment to the U.S. – Qatar economic partnership.
The Secretary expressed confidence in the progress being made toward strengthening the relationship between the governments of the two countries.
