WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of the Treasury today announced that acting Under Secretary for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence Adam J. Szubin will visit Italy, Germany, and the United Kingdom from December 7 – 10.
During his trip, acting Under Secretary Szubin will meet with senior government officials, individuals from the think tank community, as well as business, legal, and compliance leaders.  Discussions will focus on key joint U.S.-European counterterror finance work, including efforts to disrupt and destroy ISIL and ongoing sanctions targeting Russia for its destabilizing activities in Ukraine.  Acting Under Secretary Szubin will also focus on the current state of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) reached among the P5+1, the European Union, and Iran.  He will outline ongoing U.S. preparations to meet our sanctions relief commitments upon Implementation Day under the JCPOA, while also explaining our authorities that remain in place to address Iran’s support for terrorism, continued human rights abuses, and more.
While in London, acting Under Secretary Szubin will participate in a moderated conversation at the Chatham House focused on U.S.-European coordination on sanctions against states and terrorist groups to achieve shared foreign policy goals.   The conversation will be open press and journalists interested in covering can register here: pressoffice@chathamhouse.org.
