Deputy Secretary Robert M. Kimmitt will attend the finance ministers meeting of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) in Coolum, Australia on August 2-3.
Deputy Secretary Kimmitt will use this opportunity to expand our dialogue with the major economies in the Asia-Pacific region. Among other issues, he will emphasize the importance of open investment and trade regimes, and of strengthening capital markets in the region. He will also discuss with his counterparts efforts to protect the global financial system from abuse.
