Treasury Assistant Secretary for Financial Institutions Wayne A. Abernathy will teach students attending Young AmeriTowne summer camp in Denver, Colorado, about the Department of the Treasury and the importance of financial education in their lives. Young AmeriTowne is a unique hands-on lesson in free enterprise that introduces young people to the basic principles of our economic system by allowing them to run their own town.
Following the teaching, Assistant Secretary Abernathy will present The John Sherman Award for Excellence in Financial Education to the Young Americans Center for Financial Education for promoting financial education through Young AmeriTowne. Young AmeriTowne is one of several financial education programs offered by the center.
