Whistleblowers play an important role in protecting the integrity of the U.S. financial system. By reporting suspected fraud, money laundering, and violations of sanctions and tax law, individuals help safeguard taxpayer dollars, strengthen public trust, and keep America safe.
The U.S. Department of the Treasury is committed to upholding transparency, enforcing the law, and ensuring that financial misconduct is identified and properly handled.
Internal Revenue Service (IRS)
The IRS administers a whistleblower program that allows individuals to report tax law violations. The office pays monetary awards to eligible individuals whose information is used by the IRS. The award amount generally is 15 to 30% of the proceeds collected and attributable to the whistleblower's information.

Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN)
FinCEN accepts whistleblower tips involving violations and conspiracies related to the Bank Secrecy Act, U.S. sanctions programs, and several other laws critical to safeguarding the U.S. financial system and national security. Eligible information may be related to fraud, money laundering, or sanctions violations. Individuals may qualify for a financial reward if their tip leads to a successful enforcement action.

Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC)
The OCC’s whistleblowing channel provides a secure and confidential avenue for OCC employees, bank employees, and bank customers to raise concerns related to misconduct, fraud, or abuse related to the federal banking system.

Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB)
This program allows TTB and the IRS to process whistleblower claims for award as authorized by internal revenue laws that TTB administers and enforces. Individuals must directly submit a whistleblower claim to the IRS by completing the IRS Form 211, Application for Award for Original Information. The IRS may pay awards to individuals who provide specific and credible information to the IRS if the information results in the collection of proceeds.
