Under Secretary Brainard to Visit United Arab Emirates Today

Trip to Highlight U.S., International Support for Transitioning Economies
in the Middle East and North Africa
WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of the Treasury today announced that Under Secretary for International Affairs Lael Brainard will travel to Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates to co-host a meeting with the government of the United Arab Emirates of senior officials from the international financial institutions, G-8 countries, Gulf countries, and Middle Eastern and North African transition countries, on working in partnership to support countries in transition. The meeting will take place on February 9, 2012. 

Under Secretary Brainard’s discussions will focus on U.S. and international efforts to help countries in transition in the Middle East and North Africa strengthen their economic recoveries and build inclusive economies that provide opportunities to their young people and across all segments of society. The talks will also center on how the international community can work with these nations to promote better governance, economic growth, and stability.
