Secretary Geithner’s Visit To India Postponed

WASHINGTON –In light of Indian Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee’s candidacy for President of India and his expected resignation as Finance Minister, the U.S. Department of the Treasury announced today that Secretary Tim Geithner’s trip to India for the next meeting of the U.S.-India Economic and Financial Partnership, originally scheduled for June 27-28, 2012, has been postponed. Finance Minister Mukherjee has been an effective ally in the G-20 and a strong partner in deepening the economic relationship between the United States and India. The Treasury Department looks forward to rescheduling the Partnership meeting in the months ahead.
