Cohen to Continue Treasury’s Global Consultation on Efforts to Combat Terrorist Financing and Implement International Sanctions
WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of the Treasury announced today that Under Secretary for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence David S. Cohen is traveling to Pakistan, the United Arab Emirates, and India this week and next to continue Treasury’s global engagement on combatting terror financing and money laundering, and to discuss the implementation of international economic sanctions.
Continuing the Treasury Department’s global engagement on illicit finance issues, Under Secretary Cohen will meet with senior government officials and representatives from the private sector in Islamabad and Karachi, Pakistan; Abu Dhabi and Dubai, U.A.E.; and Delhi and Mumbai, India.
Under Secretary Cohen will also hold a series of discussions with members of the formal and informal financial sectors in each country to discuss the risks of illicit finance and sanctions evasion that those sectors face, and steps that governments and the financial sector can take to protect the global financial system.
