Assistant Secretary for Tax Policy (P.D.O)
Aviva Aron-Dine is currently Performing the Duties of the Assistant Secretary for Tax Policy at the Treasury Department, leading a team of around 120 staff responsible for developing and implementing federal tax policies. Previously, she served as a Deputy Assistant to the President and Deputy Director of the National Economic Council (NEC), leading the NEC’s work on tax and other fiscal policy, and as the Executive Associate Director and Acting Deputy Director of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB). She has also served as chief economist of OMB, as a Senior Counselor to the Secretary at the Department of Health and Human Services, and as a Special Assistant to the President at the NEC and has worked on tax and health policy at the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities. She holds a PhD in economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a BA in philosophy from Swarthmore College.
