Geng Ngarmboonanant, Deputy Chief of StaffGeng Ngarmboonanant serves as Deputy Chief of Staff at the U.S. Department of the Treasury, where he advises Secretary Janet L. Yellen and senior Treasury leadership on domestic and international economic policy and strategic matters. He most recently served as Senior Advisor and Chief Speechwriter to Secretary Yellen. Prior to that, he served as Senior Advisor to the Treasury Department’s Chief Recovery Officer, where he was a critical part of the Covid-19 economic response team charged with implementing the American Rescue Plan and other emergency fiscal support during the pandemic. 

Before his latest government service, Ngarmboonanant served on President-elect Joe Biden’s presidential transition team and led policy committees for two presidential campaigns. He began his career in the private sector as a management consultant at Bain & Company in New York, where he advised companies on business turnarounds and growth strategy, as well as at a fintech startup since acquired by Capital One. He was a fellow at New America, worked at the U.S. Senate, and has regularly written on economic and geopolitical affairs for The Washington Post and other national outlets.

Ngarmboonanant graduated from Yale College and holds a J.D. from Yale Law School. He lives in Washington, DC.
